Decorating my college rooms

Being a junior in college now, I have had 3 different rooms throughout my time here in college. I have lived in one dorm room and two rooms in two different houses. In this blog post I will be showing you how I decorated my spaces and how I feel about them!

My freshman year, I lived in a dorm for the first time and I was beyond thrilled to be able to decorate a new room from scratch. I did research, found picture inspiration and created mood boards for months before I moved in. I chose a neutral pallet including light pink, light grey and white. Being comfortable and feeling cozy in my new space was my main priority, with style coming in at a close second priority. I started off with a light grey snow leopard printed headboard with a white comforter, and many pink fluffy throw pillows. I then added a gold cursive name plate for above my headboard and filled my wall up next to my bed with some cool pictures. The room felt very comfortable and made me feel so at home!

For my sophomore year, I moved into an off-campus house and was blessed to have the master bedroom in the house. For this room I went for a more preppy and uplifting theme because I was able to work with much more space. The walls were also blue which made decorating the way I wanted to a little bit more difficult. Again I started with a comfy white comforter and added some colorful throw pillows and a beautiful black and white striped blanket to match my rug. I went a very different direction with this theme, but I ended up loving it just as much as my freshman year dorm room. This style was much different for me but it was such a bright and fun room, yet was still so cozy!

This year, as a junior, I am living in another off-campus house with another very large room. This year I decided to go again with bright fun colors, but this time I chose orange and pink, my two current favorite colors. While the colors are still very bright, they also have a very calming tone to them. This is for sure my favorite room design so far and I am living for the fun prints on my wall that go along with the fun throw pillows and blankets. Again, this room was so bright and fun but it still has that home cozy vibes.

I have always loved interior design and decorating rooms for myself and my friends. All of these rooms differ so much but still all fit my vibe so well. I feel as if decorating rooms is great for portraying and expressing creativity and vibes. Being able to express yourself, especially in college, is extremely important, so you do not lose sight of who you are or forget all that you can do. I can’t wait to see how I decorate my senior year's room and I would love to see all of your design ideas!!
