basic staple pieces you NEED in your closet

In order to have a perfectly functioning closet, you need to start with having all the basics. This way, you can dress up or dress down each piece. For example, a simple black top can be paired with sweatpants, jeans, leather pants, jean shorts, or a leather skirt creating many outfit variations.

Some of the pieces you need include:

• Basic long sleeves: My favorite basic long sleeves are from Zara. I have the same cropped long sleeves in black, dark green, rust orange, and brown, all from Zara. They are the best and my favorite long sleeves.

• Basic short sleeves: My favorite basic short sleeve shirts are from Cotton On and Abercrombie. Cotton On has basic tight fitting cropped t-shirts and Abercrombie has super soft basic shirts.

• Solid neutral colored crop tops: My favorite solid colored tank tops and crop tops are from Cotton On

• Tan long sleeve or sweater: The absolute best tan sweater I have is from Island Gypsy

• Solid Colored hoodies and crewneck: For a more expensive option, Cotton On and Zare have the best basic hoodies, but for a cheaper option, head on over to Boscovs and grab those Gildan hoodies

• Flannel: My favorites are from Cotton On and Princess Polly

• Puffer jacket: Zara, H&M, Princess Polly, and Old Navy have the cutest puffer jackets in all different colors!

• Puffer vest: Zara carries the cutest leather puffer vests, that can be either dressed up or down, my absolute favorite.

• Jean Jacket: The best jean jackets are from American Eagle, especially the oversized ones, which again can be dressed up or down.

• Cargo pants/khaki pants: My favorite cargo pants are from Shein, Princess Polly, Garage, and Urban Outfitters

• Light & Dark wash jeans: Just black denim brand, typically carried at Island Gypsy

• Leather pants: I have had lots of trouble finding good pair after my favorite leather pants from Zara ripped :(

• Jean shorts: Levis, billabong, and Oniell have the best jean shorts, but they can be pricey. However, they are certianly worth every penny.

• Leather skirt: I have the cutest leather skort from Island Gypsy!! The cutest ever.

With all of these pieces, you can create a wide variety of different outfits for many different occasions and outfits for all the seasons. Having these basics in your closet is absolutely essential to building outfits, by either combining the basics or building outfits, starting with the basics and adding in different pieces of clothing. If you don't have the basics, you are not going to be able to build cute outfits.
